Perform or come and watch

As part of the first HumanEarth exhibition showing at Wessel Snyman Creative at the moment, we're going to do a performance art event on Thursday evening from 6pm. We're still planning and arranging some of the 'acts', and anyone can take part.

As you might know already, the theme is around human interaction with nature - the ways that we either harm or help the natural environment - and the exhibition as well as event is aimed at promoting and initiating conversation and dialogue around this.

If you're interested in participating - either behind the scenes or as a performance artist, contact nastasha797@gmail.com or ecojunki@gmail.com

Recycled Art by ms Cal Lane

pretty oil drum
Taking something that people discard/avoid/dislike, and making it into something so beautiful and dainty is quite a challenge, but the artist Cal Lane has opened my eyes to all the possibilities around us. She is such an inspiration. Working with material like rusted oil cans, old car doors, wheel barrows, sheet metal, etc. is tough enough - but she handles here material with such gentleness that it becomes the most intriguing recycled art.

Calling all aspiring film makers!!

An International Eco Film Competition

Competition Dates: February 18 - 20, 2011

"As a 48HFP filmmaker, you are part of an international community of filmmakers - the creative and the bold. We think you are the best people to draw attention to the environmental challenges the world faces. To that end, we have created a new 48HFP competition: the 48 Go Green!

Just like other 48 Hour Film events, this contest challenges you to make a narrative short film in only 48 hours - writing, shooting, and editing the film.
